Overview

Dr. Bernard McDonald is an Anesthesiologist and Critical Care Medicine Specialist in the Division of Cardiac Anesthesiology and Assistant Professor of Anesthesia at the University of Ottawa Heart Institute. He is also Assistant Professor in the Division of Cardiac Anesthesiology at the University of Ottawa.

Background

Dr. McDonald earned his BSc (Hons) in 1989, his MD in 1995, and a PhD in Pharmacology and Toxicology in 1996 at Queen's University, Kingston, Ontario.  He then completed his anesthesia residency at the University of Ottawa, obtaining his Fellowship from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (FRCPC) in Anesthesiology in 2000. He subsequently completed a Fellowship in Critical Care Medicine at the University of Ottawa in 2002. In 2001, he became an Assistant Staff at The Ottawa Hospital and joined the Heart Institute as a member of the Division of Cardiac Anesthesia in 2002.
