Overview
Dr. Terrence Ruddy holds the Vered Chair in Cardiology and is Head of the Division of Cardiology at the University of Ottawa Heart Institute and The Ottawa Hospital. He is the Director of Nuclear Cardiology at the University of Ottawa Heart Institute. He is also Head of Nuclear Medicine at the Ottawa Hospital, and the University Chair of the Divisions of Cardiology and Nuclear Medicine. In addition, Dr. Ruddy is Professor of Medicine and Radiology at the University of Ottawa.
Background
Dr. Ruddy is a Nuclear Cardiologist and Clinician Scientist. He graduated with an MD, cum laude, with many awards, from the University of Toronto. He completed his Internship and Residencies in Internal Medicine and Cardiology at the University of Toronto, followed by a three-year Clinical and Research Fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston and at Harvard University in Cambridge.
Dr. Ruddy received his specialist certifications in Internal Medicine and Cardiology from the Royal College of Physicians of Canada (FRCPC) and American Board Certification in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Disease, Nuclear Cardiology and Clinical Hypertension.
He is a member of the Cardiology Council of the Society of Nuclear Medicine and past President of both Blood Pressure Canada and the Canadian Society of Nuclear Cardiology. He has published over 100 peer-reviewed manuscripts and book chapters and given over 200 presentations at national and international scientific meetings. He has had peer-reviewed funding from the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario, Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada, Canadian Institutes of Health Research, Ministry of Health of Ontario, National Cancer Institute of Canada and the Ontario Research Fund.
