Overview

The focus of our lab is to translate fundamental biological principles to the clinical setting. We are positioned within the Cardiology research program with projects addressing cardiac arrhythmias and regenerative medicine.

Specific questions under investigation include the following:

• Can we devise better gene- and cell-based treatments for cardiac diseases?
• What are the basic mechanisms of underlying common disturbances of cardiac rhythm?

Platform technologies include somatic gene therapy, stem cell culture and transgenic mouse technology. Methods used range from molecular cloning through cell culture and animal models to population-based studies.
