Cardiology Research Program
Overview

Cardiology research at the Heart Institute is broad-based, covering an array of science disciplines in laboratory and clinical studies. Our scientists are making internationally recognized advances in areas such as atherosclerosis, genetics and cardiac imaging. Our goal is to generate new knowledge and approaches to prevent, treat and, ultimately, eradicate heart disease.
We encourage active collaboration between physicians and researchers in order to translate advances from the laboratory to the bedside. Our research makes new therapies available to our patients sooner and, in turn, clinical observation leads to new avenues of research.
We have dozens of research trials underway at any one time, ranging from basic molecular investigations to new life-saving protocols. Through these trials, we can test cardiovascular therapies, ensure they are available for our patients as quickly as possible, and teach other medical professionals how to implement them for their patients.
