Cardiac CT Research

Overview

The University of Ottawa Heart Institute implemented the first dedicated cardiac computed tomography (CT) scanner in Canada in 2006. Since this time, the cardiac CT program has performed more than 6,000 studies. Through our cardiac CT research, we seek to better understand the clinical utility of the technology, its diagnostic accuracy and its ability to direct patient therapy and determine individual risk of future cardiac events. We also conduct novel research in areas such as myocardial viability/scar imaging, myocardial perfusion imaging and atherosclerotic plaque imaging.
