Cardiac PET Research
Overview

As the National Cardiac PET Centre, the Heart Institute is Canada's only imaging facility dedicated to advancing the understanding of cardiovascular health, disease and therapy through imaging research. Cardiac PET imaging is a combination of nuclear medicine and biochemical analysis using images to show the inner workings of the heart in extraordinary detail.
Funding support from the Canada Foundation of Innovation has enabled the PET Centre to acquire state-of-the-art technologies. These PET technologies are tested at the Heart Institute, where physicians and researchers collaborate with other hospitals, research facilities and academic institutions to improve the application, tools and training involved with cardiac imaging.
