By Car
To get to the Heart Institute from Hhighway 417, take the Parkdale exit, turn south on Parkdale Avenue, then turn left onto Ruskin Street.
By Public Transit
Bus routes 6, 85, 101, 102 stop directly in front of the Civic Campus on Carling Avenue. The O-Train Carling stop is located about 1 km east of the Heart Institute on Carling Avenue.

Parking lots available near the Heart Institute:
- P1 - Parking garage next to Parkdale Avenue
- P2 - Parking lot directly across from the Heart Institute's main entrance
- P4 - At Carling Avenue in front of emergency room
On-street parking is also available, but the meters are strictly monitored. Individuals should be careful to keep an eye on the time. The meters take one and two dollar coins as well as quarters.

By Car
The main east-west highway through Ottawa is Highway 417, also known as the Queensway. Whether coming from the east or west:
- Take the Parkdale exit
- Turn south on Parkdale Avenue
- Turn left on Ruskin Street
By Bus
The Greyhound Central Bus Station is located in the center of Ottawa, just east of the Heart Institute, on Catherine Street between Kent Street and Lyon Street.
By Train
The VIA Rail train station is located in the east end of the city. The station is easily accessible by car, taxi or public transportation.
By Plane
The McDonald-Cartier International Airport is located in the south end of Ottawa. The airport is easily accessible by car, taxi or public transportation.
