Heart Institute Applauds New Regulation of E-cigarettes and Tobacco

The University of Ottawa Heart Institute applauds Ontario’s new measures to protect youth from the dangers of tobacco and the potential harms of electronic cigarettes.

The new measures include the ban of the sale and supply of e-cigarettes to anyone under the age of 19, the prohibition of the use of e-cigarettes in settings where the smoking of tobacco is prohibited, the ban of the sale of flavoured tobacco products, with a delayed implementation date for menthol-flavoured products, and an increase in maximum fines for those who sell tobacco to youth.
