Dr. Hany Rizk is a cardiologist in the Division of Cardiology at the University of Ottawa Heart Institute and at The Ottawa Hospital.
Dr. Hany Rizk attended the Health Sciences Undergraduate Program at the University of Ottawa prior to completing his studies in undergraduate medical education. He began his internal medicine training at the University of Ottawa in 2010, where he served as a chief resident in 2012-2013. He subsequently completed his adult cardiology residency at the University of Ottawa Heart Institute, followed by a fellowship in adult echocardiography at the Ottawa Heart Institute in 2016-2017. He joined the Montfort Hospital from 2017-2019, as a staff consultant, in addition to his role as the echocardiography laboratory medical director, and clerkship medical curriculum consultant for cardiology rounds.
Dr. Rizk practices cardiology at the General Campus of The Ottawa Hospital, in the role of clinician teacher.
His interests lie in valvular heart disease, particularly in percutaneous structural heart disease imaging and intervention, with current programs of research in left atrial appendage occluder interventions, coronary sinus shunting for refractory heart failure and percutaneous valvular replacements/interventions. He is fully trilingual (English, French, and Arabic) and has interests in medical education, and will be supporting education for the Cardiology Pre-clerkship Program (francophone stream) at the University of Ottawa.
