Rapid
Ventricular Filling
- If
the AV valves are healthy, no prominent sounds will be audible
during filling
- If
a third heart sound (S3) is heard, it may reflect ventricular
dysfunction
- Although
S3 may be normal in children it is often pathological in
adults, usually caused by ventricular dilatation
