Sex and Gender in Cardiovascular Health and Disease: A Decades-Long Journey - And We Have Only just Begun!
Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the leading cause of death and disability for women and men globally. However, there are significant differences in pathophysiology and disease processes, CVD risk factors (traditional, female predominant and novel) and in gender and societal factors that all contribute to clear disparities in diagnosis, treatment, and outcomes between the sexes. Research needs to continue while also being more effectively translated into improved clinical care and outcomes for women.
This lecture will be held in-person and online via Microsoft Teams. Light refreshments will be provided.
