OTTAWA, February 23, 2026 — The Ottawa Heart Institute will host its third annual Sharing is Caring cardiovascular rehabilitation research event on Thursday, February 26, inviting patients, families, caregivers, community partners, media, and members of the public to engage directly with leading-edge research presented in plain language.
Held as part of Heart Month celebrations, the free hybrid event is designed to make cardiovascular rehabilitation research accessible, practical, and engaging. Participants will learn how current research is shaping family-centred care, mental health support, and innovative technologies such as social robots in healthcare.
“Research is typically shared in peer-reviewed publications and academic settings, but only a small portion of the public engages with these outlets,” said Jennifer Reed, PhD, a scientist and chair of cardiovascular rehabilitation at the Ottawa Heart Institute. “Sharing is Caring removes these barriers and fosters direct interaction between scientists and the community, empowering individuals to better manage their heart health.”
The evening will feature:
- Plain-language research presentations
- Patient-moderated Q&A sessions (in English and French)
- A moderated panel discussion
- Interactive educational booths
Participants attending in person will have the opportunity to connect directly with researchers and explore interactive displays highlighting ongoing clinical studies.
