Hallmark initiatives
One Million Canadian Hearts
The Ottawa Heart Institute launched Phase 1 of its One Million Canadian Hearts initiative, laying the groundwork for large-scale cardiovascular risk factor screening and early detection. More than 5,600 individuals have been screened, marking steady progress toward the goal of reaching one million Canadians. In future months, the program will continue to expand with community-based risk factor screening efforts, improving access and promoting early detection and prevention across diverse populations.
Build our heart health education centre
Foundational work is now underway to conceptualize the Ottawa Heart Institute "Heart Health Education Centre," a strategic initiative focused on advancing education and training in heart health. A dedicated committee is now guiding the vision, priorities, and development of the centre. Working groups are supporting this effort by focusing on core areas and translating the concept into a fully operationalized program.
