George Addy is an Elected Director of the Board of Directors at the University of Ottawa Heart Institute (UOHI).
Building on his career as a lawyer in private practice, as counsel to and subsequently head of the Competition Bureau, as a senior executive at a telecommunications company, and as a strategic advisor to domestic and international clients across many sectors of the economy, George brings a unique perspective to his work on the Board of the UOHI.
Fluently bilingual, George has served on many Boards and associations including the Canadian Unity Council, the Canadian Chamber of Commerce, the Telus Business School (University of Alberta-Edmonton), the Accounting Standards Oversight Council of Canada, and the Federal Invest In Canada Board. He has also represented Canada internationally including in the United States and at the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and has testified before Canadian parliamentary committees. He is also co-author of the 8-volume Canadian legal digest Competition Law Service (Thomson Reuters).
