Dr. Martin GreenAt the University of Ottawa Heart Institute, we continually strive to set the gold standard in quality of care and patient safety. We do this by employing evidence-based approaches and best practices, both developed here and drawn from other leaders in patient care. 

Quality of Care Committee

The Quality of Care Committee meets monthly to monitor key performance indicators related to patient safety, quality, risk, privacy and utilization. This committee reports quarterly to the UOHI Board of Directors.

Quality Improvement Plan

The Quality Improvement Plan is mandated by Ontario’s Excellent Care for All Act. Our Quality Improvement Plan explains how we are working to maintain quality of care. Being accountable to our patients and community is essential to maintaining public trust and international reputation for excellence.

At the Heart Institute, accountability means making the right clinical decision at the right time for the right patient. Managerial decisions, managing resources efficiently and measuring performance against provincial and national benchmarks help us determine where to focus our efforts on the Quality Improvement Plan.
