Five Heart Institute Researchers Awarded Heart and Stroke Foundation Grants

The Heart & Stroke Foundation of Canada named three (3) researchers from the University of Ottawa Heart Institute (UOHI) recipients of project funding through the Foundation’s Grant-in-Aid Program, and honoured Drs. Jodi Edwards and Louise Sun with National New Investigator Awards.  

Dr. Edwards will also receive additional project support through a Seed grant in women’s heart and brain health.

  • Jodi Edwards, PhD
    Heart & Stroke Foundation of Canada National New Investigator Award and Seed Grant, funded through the Heart & Brain Priority Announcement supported by Health Canada.

    Project: Risk assessment for women's heart and brain health across the lifespan.
    New Investigator Award amount: $260,000 over four years.
    Seed Grant amount: $100,000 over two years.
  • Louise Sun, MD
    Heart & Stroke Foundation of Canada National New Investigator Award.
    Project
    : Development and application of a patient-defined outcome in patients with ischemic cardiomyopathy. *
  • Jennifer Reed, PhD
    Heart & Stroke Foundation of Canada Grant-in-Aid.
    Amount
    : $50,000 for one year. **
  • Derek So, MD
    Heart & Stroke Foundation of Canada Grant-in-Aid.
    Amount:
    $40,000 over one year. **
  • Heather Tulloch, PhD
    Heart & Stroke Foundation of Canada Grant-in-Aid.
    Amount
    : $50,000 for one year.

Approved for funding following peer review, however not funded due to pandemic-related financial constraints.

** The H&S Foundation of Canada Grant-in-Aid Program this year sees a budget cap at a maximum of $50,000 due to pandemic-related financial constraints.
