Dalton McGuinty

Dalton McGuinty, a lawyer, served as Ontario’s 24th premier for three consecutive terms, from 2003 to 2013. The McGuinty government’s achievements include closing Ontario’s coal plants, creating the GTA Greenbelt, implementing full day kindergarten, and expanding Ontario’s hospitals, colleges, and universities. McGuinty policies resulted in Ontario achieving Canada’s highest school performance, highest level of enrolment in postsecondary education, and lowest health care wait times. To spur economic growth, the McGuinty government adopted the HST and created Canada’s first Ministry of Research and Innovation.

Since leaving politics, Mr. McGuinty has served as a Fellow at Harvard University’s Weatherhead Center for International Affairs and presently serves as a Distinguished Fellow at the University of Toronto’s Munk School, and at Carleton University’s School of Public Policy and Administration. Mr. McGuinty has also served as a director and advisor with several business and philanthropic ventures.
