Lieutenant Governor of Ontario and Chancellor of the Order of Ontario, the Honourable Elizabeth Dowdeswell has appointed Heart Institute cardiologist and Chief Scientific Officer Dr. Peter Liu to the 2020 Order of Ontario, the province's highest honour.
In a statement on the Government of Ontario website, Dr. Liu is credited for having “raised the international profile of Canadian cardiovascular research through his leadership at top national institutions.” Dr. Liu is described as a “key champion for the first heart failure practice guidelines in Canada and internationally” and he has helped set national public health policy standards in cardiovascular health.
