Job summary

The Clinical Research Nurse Coordinator III supports the Structural Heart Interventional Research team by coordinating and implementing clinical research studies. Key responsibilities include participant screening, recruitment, consent, follow-up, maintaining research documentation, managing data, scheduling study activities, and preparing ethics submissions. The role requires a licensed Registered Nurse (RN) with cardiovascular experience, strong organizational and communication skills, sound clinical judgment, and proficiency with research procedures and computer applications. Experience in phlebotomy, specimen handling, and academic research environments is an asset.

Key responsibilities

  • Coordinate and implement investigator initiated or industry sponsored clinical research protocols.
  • Function as a team member in the implementation of multi-center or larger complex clinical research projects.
  • Screen, recruit, assess, consent and follow up of research subjects as appropriate.
  • Prepare and maintain patient research files, complete case report forms, data entry, schedule appointments.
  • Prepare applications, renewals or amendments for Research Ethics Board (REB) Committee Review; assist with and maintain up to date REB filing for all projects.

Required qualifications

  • The applicant must be a licensed Registered Nurse (RN) with a diploma or Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing (BScN) to be considered for this position.
  • Certificate of Registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Must have a minimum 2 or more years of Cardiovascular experience.
  • Ability to work independently and make decisions.
  • Good judgement, initiative, tact, and professional attitude in the workplace.
  • Adaptable, flexible, and resourceful with strong personal motivation and excellent self-management skills.
  • Detail-orientation with the ability to take responsibility, meet deadlines, and work effectively with minimal supervision.
  • Strong computer skills, including demonstrated ability to edit and modify documents using track changes. Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Capacity and willing to learn new software, research methods, and work routines quickly, flexibility in responding to new research opportunities as they arise.

Preferred qualifications

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English, with the ability to convey general and medical information clearly to diverse audiences. French language skills are considered an asset.
  • Phlebotomy certification/experience and experience with lab specimen preparation and shipments.
  • Experience working in an academic/research environment.
  • Clinical Research training/experience.

Working conditions

  • Clinic setting work within hospital; exposure to patients and/or caregivers.
  • Be flexible with working hours to meet deadlines.

  • Able to share information in an effective and collaborative manner.
  • Able to work onsite full time.
