Glenn Wells est physicien médical au Service de cardiologie nucléaire de l’Institut de cardiologie de l’Université d’Ottawa, professeur adjoint à la division de cardiologie de l’Université d’Ottawa et professeur auxiliaire au Département de physique de l’Université Carleton.

Parcours 

Glenn Wells a obtenu un baccalauréat en physique de l’Université de Calgary, en Alberta, en 1991, puis deux diplômes de l’Université de la Colombie-Britannique, à Vancouver : une maîtrise en physique (relativité générale) en 1994 et un doctorat en physique médicale (imagerie par tomographie par émission monophotonique) en 1997. Il a ensuite mené des recherches postdoctorales sur l’imagerie par tomographie par émission monophotonique (TEMP) au Centre médical de l’Université du Massachusetts, à Worcester, jusqu’en 2000, année où il est entré en fonction comme physicien médical à l’Hôpital St. Joseph et à l’Institut de recherche en santé Lawson, à London, en Ontario. En 2006, il s’est joint au Service de cardiologie nucléaire de l’ICUO.

Intérêts cliniques et de recherche 

Les travaux de Glenn Wells portent sur la physique de l’imagerie multimodale en médecine nucléaire : la combinaison de la tomodensitométrie multicoupe, de la tomographie par émission de positons (TEP) et de la tomographie par émission monophotonique (TEMP). Glenn Wells s’intéresse en particulier à la modification des algorithmes de reconstruction pour corriger avec plus de précision l’atténuation, la diffusion, la diaphonie, la résolution des caméras et les mouvements physiologiques. Il s’intéresse également aux applications des examens dynamiques en TEMP et des nouvelles caméras de TEMP cardiaque. Ses recherches trouvent leurs applications dans les domaines de la TEMP/TDM de petits animaux et la TEP cardiaque.
