Le Dr Mark Hynes est anesthésiologiste cardiaque au Service d’anesthésiologie de l’Institut de cardiologie de l’Université d’Ottawa et professeur adjoint au Département d’anesthésiologie de l’Université d’Ottawa.

Parcours

En 1985, le Dr Hynes a obtenu son diplôme en médecine de l’Université McGill, à Montréal. Après un internat par rotation à Regina, en Saskatchewan, il est revenu terminer sa résidence en anesthésie à McGill, en 1990, pour faire ensuite un stage en anesthésiologie cardiaque à l’Institut de cardiologie d’Ottawa. Entre 1991 et 1996, le Dr Hynes a travaillé au tout nouveau Centre cardiaque du Nouveau-Brunswick, à Saint John. Au cours de cette période, il a profité d’un congé sabbatique de six mois pour poursuivre des études postdoctorales en échocardiographie à l’Institut de cardiologie et à l’Hôpital général de Saint-Boniface de Winnipeg, au Manitoba, avant de revenir à l’Institut de cardiologie en 1996.

Intérêts cliniques et de recherche

Le Dr Hynes s’intéresse particulièrement à l’échocardiographie transœsophagienne.
