Le Dr James Robblee est anesthésiologiste de la Division d’anesthésiologie cardiaque à l’Institut de cardiologie de l’Université d’Ottawa, professeur adjoint au Département d’anesthésiologie de l’Université d’Ottawa et médecin traitant à L’Hôpital d’Ottawa (campus Civic).

Parcours

Le Dr Robblee a obtenu un doctorat en médecine de l’Université de l’Alberta en 1970, et c’est en 1976 qu’il a été admis comme associé du Collège royal des médecins et chirurgiens du Canada (FRCPC).

Après plusieurs années de pratique, il a accepté, en 1978, un poste de professeur adjoint à l’Université d’Ottawa, tout en travaillant au L’Hôpital général d’Ottawa. En 1979, il est entré au service de L’Hôpital d’Ottawa (campus Civic), où il est resté jusqu’en 1981, année de son arrivée à l’Institut de cardiologie. En 1996, il a été nommé chef de la Division d’anesthésiologie cardiaque et de soins intensifs.

Homme dynamique aux multiples centres d’intérêt, le Dr Robblee a fait partie de plusieurs comités nationaux, dont le Comité canadien du sang et le Comité consultatif scientifique de la Société canadienne du sang. Il a terminé sa maîtrise en administration des affaires en 2000. Le Dr Robblee est président du Conseil des gouverneurs du Collège Algonquin, un important collège communautaire situé à Ottawa, à Perth et à Pembroke, en Ontario. Il a terminé le programme d’éducation des directeurs offert par l’École d’études commerciales Rotman et a obtenu le titre de ICD.Dde l’Institut des administrateurs de société en 2009.

Le Dr Robblee est visiteur pour Agrément Canada et président du Comité consultatif des médecins. Il a visité plus de 50 hôpitaux au Canada et en Arabie saoudite.

Intérêts cliniques et de recherche

Les champs d’intérêt du Dr Robblee portent notamment sur les antifibrinolytiques et les transfusions sanguines chez les patients cardiaques opérés à haut risque; la réadmission à l’Unité des soins intensifs; l’analyse prospective et l’analyse des modes de défaillance et de leurs effets (FMEA) dans les hôpitaux de soins actifs au Canada; la sécurité des patients et les dispositifs médicaux alimentés par piles.
