Simon Parlow, MD, is a critical care cardiologist in the Division of Cardiology at the University of Ottawa Heart Institute and an assistant professor in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Ottawa.
Background
Dr. Parlow completed medical school in 2017 and internal medicine residency in 2020 at the University of Ottawa. He then completed his cardiology training at the University of Ottawa Heart Institute, where he served as chief cardiology resident during his last year and earned the Dr. Wilbert J. Keon Award for Excellence during his training. Subsequently, he finished the Critical Care Medicine Residency Program at the University of Ottawa before spending five months at the Royal Brompton and Harefield hospitals in London, England, where he received advanced training in mechanical circulatory support and completed his specialist certification in extracorporeal membrane oxygenation. He is currently completing his master of science in clinical epidemiology through the University of Edinburgh.
Research and clinical interests
Dr. Parlow’s clinical and research interests lie primarily in the field of critical care cardiology. He is interested in the management of patients with cardiogenic shock, as well as the role of mechanical circulatory support and extracorporeal membrane oxygenation.
