Dr. Whitney Faiella is a critical care cardiologist in the Division of Cardiology at the University of Ottawa Heart Institute (UOHI) and an assistant professor in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Ottawa.
Background
Dr. Faiella completed medical school at the Northern Ontario School of Medicine in 2017. She then completed internal medicine and cardiology residency training at Dalhousie University in 2020 and 2023, respectively. This was followed by a critical care medicine residency at the University of Ottawa in 2025. She obtained her Level III echocardiography at Dalhousie University in 2025. She is currently completing a Masters of Medical Education through the University of Dundee. Dr Faiella joined the Division of Cardiology at the UOHI in 2026.
Dr. Faiella was awarded the Canadian Cardiovascular Society’s Trainee Excellence in Education Award in 2022 for her efforts in medical education throughout internal medicine and cardiology residency training.
Research and clinical interests
Dr. Faiella’s clinical interests are in the fields of critical care cardiology and echocardiography. Her academic and research interests are in medical education.
