Dr. Luc Beauchesne is a full-time staff cardiologist of the Division of Cardiology at the University of Ottawa Heart Institute (UOHI). He is a Professor of Medicine at the University of Ottawa.
Background
Dr. Beauchesne completed his medical studies at McGill University in Montreal and his postgraduate training at Dalhousie University in Halifax (Rotating Internship); Foothills Hospital in Calgary (Internal Medicine); and the Heart Institute (Cardiology, Chief Resident).
He subsequently completed Fellowships in Echocardiography at the Heart Institute and in Adult Congenital Heart Disease (ACHD) at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. He then received his certification in Cardiology from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (FRCPC). He is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology (FACC).
Dr. Beauchesne is member of the Canadian Cardiovascular Society (CCS), the Canadian Society of Echocardiography (CSE), the American Society of Echocardiography (ASE), the Adult Congenital Health Network and the International Society of Adult Congenital Heart Disease (ISACHD).
Previous administrative roles have included: Director of the UOHI ACHD Program, Fellowship Director UOHI Adult Echocardiography, Governor, Province of Ontario, American College of Cardiology (ACC) and President, Medical Staff University of Ottawa Heart Institute. Current active roles include: Chair, UOHI Academic Medical Organization (UOHIAMO) Management Committee and National Vice-chair Cardiology Specialty Committee, Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons, Canada.
Research and clinical interests
Dr. Beauchesne’s research interests focus on adult congenital heart disease, valvular heart disease and echocardiography. He has an active clinical practice in general cardiology with additional specialized expertise in adult congenital heart disease and aortopathy.
